ROTHERFIELD PARISH FOOTPATHS AND RIGHTS OF WAY INFORMATION
A few years ago a series of leaflets were published giving details of circular walks in the Parish. Paper copies are now in short supply but scans of these leaflets may be accessed by clicking on the links below. Listed are the distances involved and the start/finish points for the walks.
Please note:
- These are quite large files and may take a while to download.
- Increasing the % in the Adobe toolbar to 50% or above will make the leaflets easier to read.
- Through the kindness of a reader the lack of a "Route 6" leaflet has been explained. The Eridge Walk 7 forms part of a separate series of leaflets covering other areas of East Sussex, there only ever were 5 produced for Rotherfield as part of a separate initiative. Rotherfield Walk 28 has been added to this list from East Sussex series.
FOOTPATH BENCHES
As part of the Rotherfield Community Tourism Initiative a few years ago a number of simple "3 pieces of wood" style benches were installed alongside some of the Parish footpaths. The approximate locations and footpath references are:-
FP63 Eridge Station FP18 Steep Hill FP79 Renhurst Farm |
FP70 Stonehouse FP36 Stile House BW73 Chant Lane |
FP43 Catts Hill BW45 Hoth Wood BW8 Inchreed Farm |
FP12(2) Sandhill FP49 Little Millhole FP50 Copyhold Farm |
I have managed to find and photograph the benches on BW73 and BW45 but would be grateful if any regular Parish walkers could keep an eye out for the others and report on their condition, a digital photo for the archives would also be greatly appreciated.
EAST SUSSEX COUNTY COUNCIL ON LINE RIGHTS OF WAY MAPThis has just "gone live" and may be accessed via this link:-
East Sussex Rights of Way Map
You may zoom in to show fine detail and by clicking on to an individual route the number is shown. Bridges, stiles and gates are also shown, by clicking on them their individual reference will appear which will assist in reporting damage.
Please note that, from experience of use, a little practice and patience is required before details appear!
ESCC have recently (October 2011) published a "Public Rights of Way Management Priorities" document, a copy of which may be viewed by clicking HERE.
